Life was much more colourful when I was a child, filled with endless possibilities and wonders.

As I grew out of my teenage years, the responsibilities and hardships of life took over, painting the world in shades of grey. Life turned out to be much more complicated and messier than I imagined.

As a kid, I looked up to people in their twenties and thought them adults with their lives figured out. They seemed confident, successful, and in control of their lives.

When I entered my twenties, I realized that reality was far different from what I had imagined.

People are quick to judge. Constant expectations and pressure are placed on us to have everything together after we pass a certain age. We compare and are compared to others who seemingly have everything together, making each of us feel like a failure.

But I have realized that everyone is on their own journey. So I am learning to not compare or let the expectations of others dictate my life.

My comfort comes from knowing that I am not alone in this. Each one of us is struggling to create a fulfilling and meaningful life.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

Because just as it turned grey, perhaps life can once again become colourful and full of possibilities.
